Summer Tour highlights key issues affecting North Shropshire

Helen Morgan has hailed a series of summer meetings for providing a “full list” of issues to raise in Westminster following the recess of Parliament.
Helen Morgan, MP for North Shropshire, has pledged to act on the key themes that emerged at the popular Summer Tour events as she continues to speak out and campaign on subjects affecting residents.
More than 100 people attended the six drop-in sessions held in West Felton, Woore, Shawbury, Weston Rhyn, Higher Heath and Dudleston Heath.
The state of public transport, local NHS services, road safety and mobile and broadband services were some of the key themes raised by those who attended to discuss constituency issues with the MP.
Helen Morgan MP, said: “A big thank you to everyone who gave up their time to come and speak to me about the issues that matter to them most. For me, meeting constituents and hearing their concerns is the most rewarding part of the job of being an MP.
“It’s also important that people feel their voices are being heard and I’m looking forward to doing just that now Parliament has returned after recess.
“I’ve got a full list of issues from my summer meetings that I plan to act on, working with local councillors to make a positive change for people.”
North Shropshire has struggled with public transport after years of under-investment in decent services, and Helen said that hearing how this affects people’s day-to-day lives underlined the importance of fighting for improvements.
Mobile phone connectivity blights many areas of the rural constituency, and concerns raised over signal ‘not-spots’ at the meetings come on the back of a campaign by the MP to bring about better connectivity for residents and visitors.
A forthcoming inquiry into mobile signal coverage by the All Party Parliamentary Group on Digital Communities, which the MP chairs, will shine a spotlight on areas in need of improvement.
