Helen praises Christmas card creativity as competition winner revealed
Helen has revealed the winning design that will feature on the front of her official Christmas card, after a competition was held among primary schools.
Students from across North Shropshire were invited to submit potential covers for Helen’s cards and hundreds of entries were received featuring traditional festive scenes, as well as more unusual designs.
Helen said the standard of entries was so high that whittling the submissions down to just one winner was “a tough decision”.
After poring over the designs, Helen selected a colourful scene featuring the bough of a tree with baubles, holly, lights and a cheerful ‘Merry Christmas’ message, drawn by Faye Evans, aged 11, from Whixall Primary School.
Helen said: “I am extremely proud to represent such creative and enthusiastic children here in North Shropshire.
“There were so many impressive designs to choose from this year and it was an incredibly tough decision choosing the winner.
“From traditional scenes with robins, snowmen and Christmas trees, to the more unusual avocado, gingerbread men and silhouette designs, all of this year’s entries were wonderfully creative.”
The A5 landscape card features the winning drawing prominently on the front, as well as a selection of runners-up on the back. A large selection of other entries is being displayed in the MP’s office in Wem.
