Helen Morgan MP will be chairing a roundtable on digital connectivity in Parliament on the afternoon of Monday, 18th March.

The meeting aims to bring together organisations and politicians from a wide range of backgrounds with an interest in the state of digital infrastructure in the UK. This comes as part of a longstanding campaign by Helen in Parliament to improve rural mobile signal and raise concerns over the digital switchover, recently highlighted on ITV Tonight.

The meeting aims to raise awareness of the issues with the phaseout of copper wire landlines, problems with access to mobile signal and the lack of high quality data collected on the topic.

Helen will be joined by co-chair Councillor Mark Hawthorne (Conservative Leader of Gloucestershire County Council) to discuss local government involvement in digital infrastructure.

Organisations expected to attend include:

  • Local Government Association
  • EE, Three, Vodafone, and Virgin/O2
  • Ofcom
  • National Farmers Union
  • Federation of Small Businesses
  • Country Land Alliance
  • Rural Services Network
  • Age UK
  • TalkTalk

Former Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Minister Mark Warman MP, Duncan Baker MP who represents rural North Norfolk, and Government Digital Connectivity Champion Simon Fell MP have also confirmed their attendance.
