North Shropshire MP Helen Morgan has marked World Book Day by making a series of book donations to primary school libraries across five market towns in her constituency.

Pupils at primary schools in Whitchurch, Wem, Market Drayton, Oswestry, and Ellesmere will benefit from the book donations, which have been kindly offered by the Publishers Association.

The MP dropped off one of the five boxes at Market Drayton Junior School yesterday and met with the teachers and pupils celebrating World Book Day.

Helen Morgan, MP for North Shropshire, said, “It was really lovely to visit Market Drayton Junior School and see the pupils and teachers there celebrating World Book Day, which is a great initiative – it puts books into the hands of children and encourages a real love of reading.

“Good literacy skills are incredibly important to educational achievement and success in the workplace, so I am delighted to show my support.

“Special thanks must go to the Publishers Association who have kindly donated several boxes of books for school libraries across North Shropshire. I’ve made sure that a school in each of our five market towns benefits from the offer, and that the books are well-read by pupils.”
