Helen Morgan “absolutely thrilled” as Lib Dems win Shropshire

Helen Morgan says she is “absolutely thrilled” as the Liberal Democrats elected dozens of new councillors to take control of Shropshire Council.

As of 7pm on Friday 2nd May the Lib Dems had won 42 councillors across Shropshire, an increase of 29 from 2021. Meanwhile, the Conservatives who have run the council since it was formed in 2009, have been crushed into third place.

Helen Morgan said, “The people of Shropshire have spoken. I am absolutely thrilled at the Shropshire result and immensely proud of the work put in by Shropshire Liberal Democrat candidates and councillors. The Conservatives took Shropshire residents for granted for far too long.”

The Liberal Democrats won a huge majority of council seats in the north of the county, the area Helen Morgan MP represents in Parliament.

“I look forward to working with Shropshire’s Liberal Democrat councillors who have a big task ahead of them, turning around the mess left behind by the Conservatives,” added Helen.
