Green GEN Cymru (an Independent Distribution Network Operator) is planning a major electricity export network from Mid Wales into England. The project is proposed to terminate in North Shropshire at Lower Frankton, at a ‘switching station’.

In addition to this, National Grid proposes to build a huge 400kV substation to cope with the new Green GEN connection coming to the site and create a regional strategic ‘node’ to allow future connections – creating a potentially massive high-voltage power hub.

I don’t think industrial-scale energy infrastructure running into tens of acres should be dumped in the North Shropshire countryside, dwarfing local villages and blighting our beautiful landscape and valuable farmland.

We have a chance to make our voices heard during the forthcoming planning process.
